Never Let Me GO
Simple Review
Never Let Me Go is a book which I think will stick with me forever. I went into this not even knowing that it was a sci-fi book, nor that it leaned on the side of dystopia, and I think I was all the better for it. I actually started reading this book because of a British Literature course I was taking in college. This book will make you hate a character and then cry over them only 20 pages later. It talks about art in a way I’ve never seen explored before, especially from the viewpoint of a society who does not respect it. There are so many things jammed into this book and they are executed almost perfectly.

Wuthering Heights
Simple Review
Wuthering Heights is my all time favorite book I believe. This novel helped my writing in ways I couldn’t even begin to describe. I find this book so often misattributed as a love story, and I think some people consume this book in that way. There is a strong distinction between a romance book and a romantic book, in my opinion, and Wuthering Heights makes that distinction clear. The relationship between Heathcliff and Cathy is so complex and heart-breaking it’s hard for me to describe it as “love”. It is anger, it is resentment, it is revenge, and I suppose to some that is love. It is for Heathcliff anyways…

Jurassic PArk
Simple Review
I grew up originally on the movie (which I still believe to be a masterpiece), and finally got my hands on this book a few years ago. I often struggle between which version of the story I prefer, but I think I always end up leaning towards the book. I still wish one day for a episodic adaptation of the book in it’s full R-Rated horror goodness. The dinosaurs are horrific and visceral, and the kids are just as annoying as the movie.

The Princess Bride
Simple Review
Believe it or not, I actually read the book before I ever watched the movie. The half star off is simply because the version of this book I read kept getting interrupted by the abridged author’s inane ramblings that I could simply care less about. The rest of the story is perfect and I would’ve given it 5 stars if it wasn’t for the previously mentioned point. Everything about this book is just literary satire and fantasy adventure at it’s finest.

DUNE
Simple Review
To put it short and sweet, I believe the Dune series to be one of the greatest sci-fi epics ever written (closely battled by The Book of the New Sun). The first book of the series is a perfect mix of mystery and exploration of this beautiful universe, and every entry following continues to build deeper upon Herbert’s world. I have yet to watch the movies, but some part of me doubts any of them live up to the awesomeness that this series is.
